08.03.25 INDIA - HOLI Festival, Varanasi with Stephen Dupont & Russell Shakespeare

Nestled beside the mighty Ganges River, Varanasi is one of the world’s oldest cities and the jewel of India. Known as the “city of light”, it’s nothing short of a photographer’s paradise. It is a place seeped in history and culture, of pilgrimage and celebration. A must-see destination and a visual feast.

With its roots in Indian mythology, “Holi” is the festival of colours and during this time Varanasi truly opens its magic to visitors as partygoers throw coloured water and powders on one another in joyous celebration.

The vibrant street life transports guests to another time as they revel in the world’s biggest street party. Besides the festival events, guests will walk the ancient backstreets, the river ghats and beaches that are full of surprises and around every corner.

The workshop will be hosted by world-renowned Leica Akademie Australia instructors and India specialists Stephen Dupont and Russell Shakespeare. Combined they bring over 60 years of photographic field experience and knowledge and will be there to guide you and inspire you through the city's secrets and roads less travelled.

Stephen and Russell along with specially chosen local guides will personally work closely with each guest in the field to make sure that everybody’s experiences are fun, successful and memorable. Our two instructors will also work individually with guests to edit and sequence their pictures for a complimentary A4 hand-sewn hardcover book printed by Momento Pro. This beautiful book becomes a keepsake and will be collected in the prestigious Leica Akademie Australia archive and displayed throughout Leica stores.

Last but not least, guests will stay at the luxurious Guleria Kothi Hotel which is a former palace with every room looking over the Ganges River and down upon the thriving bathing ghats and temples below. Also, exquisite cuisine will be on offer from hand-picked restaurants by the instructors.

So come along for the journey of a lifetime to Varanasi and become a part of our growing Leica Akademie family.
